A week after Bridgwater in which we were participated with the West Somerset Railway we documented the same procession with a smaller audience from the 100,000 people that watch Bridgwater’s – which claims to be Europe biggest illuminated event.

Despite the wet weather the show went full blast ahead, Marketeers CC suffered a power failure at 10,000 lightbulbs on their cut remained unlit and quite possibly the loudest entry remained silent through the procession, they received the biggest cheer of the night.

Queen Dimond Jubilee

\A selection of photographs capturing the celebrations of the Queen being on the thone has been captured and are about to go onto the website. We follow the celebrations from the rural country of Somerset into the capital city of London and capture the atmosphere of a very royal event that only Britons can do best!

The Longest Heritage Railway in England also arranged for a train to run for a week over the celebrations call the Jubilee Express. This first of it type.

More information is available on the following link:

About my Area

‘The train, decorated in the traditional style of “celebration” trains in the days when steam ruled the railways will leave Bishops Lydeard, near Taunton” at 11.05 each day and will arrive at Minehead at 12.25 where the locomotive will be turned on the turntable. The return journey leaves Minehead at 15.05 and is due to arrive at Bishops Lydeard at 16.40. There is no need to pre-book seats on the “Jubilee Express” and tickets can be purchased on the day of travel at the stations.’ – Extract from West Somerset Railway
